Year 1 - Design & Technology
Dear Year 1 Parents
As part of Design and Technology, Year 1 will be having fun learning about Food and Nutrition during the week beginning Monday 29th January 2024 and cooking on Wednesday 31st January 2024.
All cooking and food activities use vegetarian products, and we have checked any children’s allergy information we have against the list below.
If you have any questions or concerns, or your child has an allergy we are not aware of, please ring the School Office.
Health & Safety:
Please makes sure that if your child has long hair, it is tied back, and that they are not wearing any nail varnish.
The unit is titled “How does food affect your senses?”
In this unit, pupils will experiment with new textures and flavours and be taught culinary techniques.
They will be making:
Rainbow wraps
Crudities (vegetable sticks with a dipping sauce)
The children will be using the following ingredients:
Greek yoghurt
Olive oil
Lemon juice
Tortilla wrap
Cucumber
Carrot
Pepper
Courgette
All ingredients will be sourced and provided by the school.
All food preparation will be fully supervised.
All aspects of this unit have been Risk Assessed by the school.
