Shenton Primary School

Empowering and nurturing young minds to achieve excellence

Welcome

Shenton Primary School serves an International community. Our children speak over 20 different languages and we pride ourselves on helping every child develop as a happy, confident and aspiring learner.

‘Parents are a child’s first and most enduring educators.’

We believe that the best way a child can learn is through partnership between teachers, children and parents.  We have high expectations for all our children and we aim to provide a high quality learning environment in which children can flourish.

Above all we believe that the broad, balanced curriculum we provide will enable children to enjoy school and learn well.  We adhere to all national and city council legislation. You can find more information here.

Our school results are strong, and we have consistently achieved at or above National averages in Year 6 for a number of years. We have also been placed in the top 10 of schools in the city, a number of times in terms of the standards the children achieve.

We will always make ourselves available to discuss any aspect of your child’s development. You can talk to teachers at the beginning or end of the school day, or make an appointment if you would like to discuss your child’s progress in more detail at any time. We also have regular meetings arranged through out the school year to keep you informed.

'Respect and fairness shine through all aspects of life at Shenton Primary . Pupils treat each other with kindness They thrive in the calm and purposeful atmosphere . Teachers expect the best from all pupils and want them to do well Pupils work hard and help each other in lessons.'

Ofsted 2020

The children behave exceptionally well at Shenton, and they enjoy school. They are taught about different religions, cultures and countries around the world so they can respect their differences, treating each other with respect, and as individuals. At the same time the children are proud to be a part of the school community, and help each other in many different ways, for example, acting as welcome friends to new children, and as buddies in the playground supporting younger children. Our student council also leads fundraising activities and lets us know what else we could do to improve the school or community for everyone. The children are supported by the school’s strong Behaviour Management Policy,  which means dealing with any issues quickly, ensuring children are knowledgeable about their own and others’ rights, and teaching them how to manage different situations effectively.

Our aim is always to ensure every child succeeds in achieving their very best.

This website will provide you with information about the school, as well as learning support links. All of these opportunities are provided for free for children who are entitled to Free School Meals. If you are in receipt of Universal Credit, please come and talk to us so we can ensure you and your child receive the support you are entitled to.

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions please come in and see us. Mrs Thakrar and Mrs Mistry can help you, they are in the school office and can speak a variety of community languages, as do many of the school staff. You can also speak to your class teacher, and if you need a translator we can make the necessary arrangements.

Together we can continue to ensure all the children at Shenton are safe, happy and learning.

With Regards,
