Teacher Strike Days
Dear Parents,
Firstly, I would like to wish all of you celebrating, a very happy and joyous Eid. Eid Mubarak!
I am also writing to inform you of upcoming teacher strike days that may affect you and your child. Teachers who are members of the National Education Union (NEU) will be holding a national strike on Thursday 27 April and Tuesday 2 May 2023.
I will write to you as early as possible next week to let you know what may happen on Thursday 27th April. The Governing Body and I will do what we can to keep any disruption to a minimum, however the majority of our teachers are in this union. Whether teachers choose to strike or not, some are already planned to undertake other responsibilities, and I will have limited access to any additional teachers.
If you would like to understand more about the strike action, there is some information from the NEU here and alternative points of view can be found from the BBC here.
If your child's class needs to be closed, I will inform you as soon as I know. We will try to keep all classes open for vulnerable children. We are classifying 'vulnerable' as those children on free school meals, children of parents who work for the NHS or other emergency services, and those with significant special educational needs. You will receive a message if we have made a place available for your child, but if you do not receive a message by Wednesday morning and believe your child meets this criteria, please come to the office on Wednesday and discuss your situation with us.
Have a lovely weekend, and we'll look forward to hearing all the children's stories about their Eid celebrations next week.
With regards,
Ms Gita
