Teacher Strike Day Wednesday 1st March
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you had an interesting but fun half term with the children. It is lovely to see them back in class, ready to learn, and playing with their friends.
On Wednesday 1st March, there is more action being planned by the NEU (National Education Union). The NEU has posted a document for parents, carers and grandparents that explains their reasons for taking strike action. It can be found at https://neu.org.uk/media/24511/view if you wish to read it. The Governors and I have looked into how we can best support your children. Whilst some teachers are on strike, others have already been asked to perform other duties and we have limited access to any supply cover.
We are therefore closing the following classes: 2 Spain, 2 Pakistan and 3 Poland. All other classes will remain open.
For children in 2 Spain, 2 Pakistan and 3 Poland, we will remain open to any children who are vulnerable which includes, SEND children with their own adult, any children entitled to free school meals and to any children, who's parents, work in the NHS or in schools as teaching staff. Whilst we can not teach the full curriculum to them on this day, we will ensure your child is safe and has a fun day. We will send a text message to those parents we believe are eligible tomorrow but please ask if you think this may include you and you do not receive a text message.
Change of School Menu - Wednesday 1st March
It is difficult for the catering company when they can not reliably predict how many children would be staying for lunch on strike days, so they have made an amended menu for this and any future strike days. Please see details below. Medical Diet pupils will still be catered for by providing them with a dish from their own bespoke menu nearest to the choices below.
Lunch choice:
Jacket Potato served with Cheese, Baked Beans and Salad.
Either a Shortbread Cookie, Fresh Fruit or Yoghurt as a dessert.
My apologies for any inconvenience this action may cause.
We will write to you later this week about other events, including parents evening for this term, which will be held face-to-face.
As always, our doors are open so please some and ask if you need any help.
With regards,
Ms Gita
