27.8.2021 Ms Gita Letter
The children have enjoyed returning to school, being able to play with all of their friends again and feeling a greater sense of freedom now that their school day isn’t restricted by bubbles.
I am writing to give a couple of updates and messages.
Thank you for distancing where you can, and for those of you who have chosen to continue to wear masks, particularly at the end of the school day, thank you.
If you are entering the school building, particularly around the office areas we may ask you to wear a mask (we can provide them) if you are staying to fill in forms etc.
Please ask teachers if you would like to speak to them, and they will arrange a way for that to happen, as we will continue to ensure distancing for any meetings.
We will review our procedures over half term, and I will inform you of any changes.
Lastly, thank you so much to all of you that are not driving down Dunlin Road, it shows your care and concern for us as a community.
Drop Off Time 8.30am-8.50am
Classrooms will not open until 8.40am. Please make sure you supervise your children until then, so older children are not waiting on their own, thank you.
If your child is in Y5 or Y6, we have sent letters if you wish them to walk home alone. Please make sure they are supervised in the morning or make sure they arrive after 8.40am so they can go straight to class. They should not be in the playground alone at any time, as we cannot take care of them between 8.30am and 8.40am. Thank you for your support.
When do the children need to isolate?
Children only need to isolate if they test positive themselves.
Your child will need to take a test if someone in your household tests positive or you are advised that they have been close to someone else who has tested positive. This must be a PCR test, but your child can continue to attend school if they feel well until you get their results.
Remote learning will be offered to any child who must isolate because of Covid, but feels well enough to learn.
We are now expecting your child to attend school regularly.
If your child is ill, please phone 0116 2628778 and leave a message, or you can email the office: firstname.lastname@example.org if that is easier.
Sweatshirts & Jumpers
Please be aware that classrooms need to be well ventilated, as part of our continued safety measures, so please make sure your child has a school uniform sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan every day. When the children sit still, their heartbeat lowers so they can feel colder, even if it is quite warm.
MSTeams, Communication & Homework
Over the last 18 months, we have all realised just how important it is for us all to have good IT skills. We will be continuing to communicate with you through your child’s account. Please make sure you know your child’s email address and password, and how to use MSTeams. We will be sending these out to you again in the next couple of weeks.
The children will also continue to have their homework set online. Over the next few weeks we will be reformatting tablets, and if you would like one for your child, please let your child’s class teacher know. We will be issuing one tablet/laptop per family as it shouldn’t take each of your children long to finish their homework and can then share. If you have lots of children or any questions please ask!
We are having some new decking built in the key stage 2 playground, so some of the older children were asking what it was. Like all good teachers, I turned it round and asked them the same question.
Some of the answers included, a zip wire, a new classroom, a swimming pool and a house for Mr Blockley!
Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. We will see you on Tuesday 31st in the morning, stay safe.
