Empowering and nurturing young minds to achieve excellence

10th  Letter to Parents 7.5.2020

Dear Parents,

I hope you are all safe and well.

On Sunday, we are expecting the Government to make announcements about the possibility of schools reopening to some children. Please listen to the news and I will send you an update early next week.

As this situation continues, we are looking into longer term effective solutions for helping your children educationally. It is clear that across the country, families who have access to the internet, that have enough gadgets (laptops and tablets)and that have the time to support their children, are much better able to keep their child’s learning going. Across our school, I know we have families who do not have all of these elements in place. Thank you to the 10 families who contacted us to give us their views about homework.

Over this and next week, we are looking at producing new homework packs in the hope that social distancing regulations will allow you to collect them. We are also looking at ways of communicating directly with your children. The place of technology is going to continue to be important in supporting your child’s learning so if you have any problems in this area, please get in touch.

In the meantime, here is an opportunity for you, if you would like to complete any training as adults, as well as some free yoga lessons you may be interested in.

New home learning toolkit for parents

A new online learning platform was launched on 28th April. There are a range of free courses to enable adults to boost their skills whilst at home. This government-backed website gives adult learners free guidance and courses.

  • The Skills Toolkit gives people access to free, high-quality digital and numeracy courses to help build up their skills, progress in work and boost their job prospects.
  • Courses have been developed by the Open University, Google Digital Garage, the University of Leeds, Lloyds Bank and many others.

Free Yoga

“Avanti school are hosting free online yoga classes, Monday-Saturday, 10am-10:30am on YouTube, open to all! The classes are designed for people of all abilities and are live and recorded so can be accessed any time. We want to share this offering with everyone, so please feel free to offer this to your school community!”

To join the classes simply subscribe to Avanti Schools Trust YouTube page:

Whilst we all continue to deal with the situation we are in the best way we can, please remember we are here, so get in touch if there is anything else you think we can help with.

With warm regards,

Ms Gita
