Every week different children are nominated for a 'Special Mention'. We focus on the skills and attitudes children need to have, to be successful in anything they do.

Week Ending 5.3.2021 Special Mentions

1 Holland

Muhammad- Zidan for always trying his best and improving in Maths. Well done

Pranavi for always working hard in all lessons and for improving sentence writing by using conjunctions.

I Japan

Tanush for trying his best in all subjects, showing kindness towards others and persevering when learning about division in Maths.

Unaisah for using lots of exciting adjectives and verbs in her sentences this week and asking a teacher for help when she needs to.

2 Spain

Ayana for showing a good understanding of the features needed for instructions. Ayana has continued making an effort with her writing and always tries hard with answering questions during lessons.

Muhammad for working hard during his maths revision sessions this week. Muhammad gets lots of work done in his maths sessions and will often volunteer to share his ideas.

Mahi for having a great attitude, contributing well in lessons, helping other children with ideas.

Yaqoob because he kept on trying hard and he is gaining confidence.

 

3 Kenya

Respect: Muhammad A. is quiet but always gets on with the task. He is very respectful and has great manners. I am proud of you!

Perseverance: Yasmin is a lovely, quiet, shy girl and she always perseveres when she finds the tasks a little bit tricky. She can now find fractions of a number and objects. Well done and keep it up!

Sumaia - working really hard for Mrs Member during Literacy and showing a real improvement during home learning.

Mitiksha - impressing Miss Mistry with her fantastic reading skills and enthusiasm for comprehension during home learning and having such a postive attitude towards her learning which has encouraged others.

Tanzila – Always being a great role model to others and wanting to achieve her best in every lesson.

 

Ayub – Helping others with their learning and the teacher at times! His general knowledge, the vocabulary he uses, and his maths skills are very impressive.

Anish for always joining in and trying his best to answer the questions. Anish will listen to advice and makes a good attempt to improve his work.

Hensi is a very polite girl. She is always working hard and joins in the class discussions. Hensi has shown that she can work at a good pace and generally completes all her tasks. Hensi always listen to advice and improves her work.

Jensi is now displaying more confidence and is persevering more and more each day. She is working well in small groups and now has the confidence to ask for help whenever she needs it. Well done!

 

Arisha is very hard working and she is motivated to do well. She has grown in confidence and participates well in all lessons. Well done!

Zayan has been an online learning hero who has managed to keep the in class vibe going while home learning. He has had excellent attendance and made me happy in his efforts with the PE challenges, his steady progress in reading and his great progress in maths (especially arithmetic).

Fiza is another online hero who has been sitting quietly in the background while remote learning but always sends me her completed work to check even when self-marking. Once again, I have seen progress across the board and noticed a more mature attitude developing.

Ayesha for her phonics, segmenting and blending words when writing and making good progress.

Mit for concentrating in all lessons and solving division number sentences brilliantly.

I Japan

Riya for participating in all subjects and showing great perseverance when learning about division in maths.

 

Maryam for writing some imaginative sentences in Literacy using lots of exciting adjectives.

2 Spain

Raihan: At the beginning of online learning Raihan struggled to focus. He has made a huge turnaround since then and now makes a much bigger effort in his lessons and interacts with others during his lessons by showing and saying his ideas.

 

Diya: Has made a big effort in literacy coming up with ideas for how Elliot might be able to get his machine to work and she always offers to share ideas. She is also very good at ignoring any distractions and staying focused on her work.

2 Pakistan

Alizah for working really hard and showing a good attitude.

 

Ziyaad for working really sensibly and thinking carefully about his work.

3 Kenya

Maryam for confidence: Maryam showed great confidence in Maths as she learnt how to identify fractions of shapes. Fantastic work, Maryam!

 

Yug for cCommunication: Yug is a very sensible child, who always shows respect. Yug used his great communication skills during Literacy, as he came up with great sentences using subordinating clauses. Keep it up, Yug!

3 Poland

Vansh for putting 100% effort into his learning at home and making sure his work is neatly presented.

 

Marwa for being respectful by always using her manners when asking for help and making excellent contributions to class discussions

4 Canada

Mahek - Before half term Mrs Member was very impressed with Mahek's dialogue writing especially including inverted commas into his work.

 

Taylor - I have seen a real improvement in Taylor's concentration during this week and his ideas have been fantastic, especially during shared reading.

4 Slovakia

Muhammed for working diligently and being ready to learn every single day. He listens attentively and is polite when asking questions.

 

Raziya for being a keen learner, also, for being brave in asking questions about new learning.

Aaliya has worked hard and always gives 100%. She has worked particularly well in maths showing her understanding of multiplication and division methods. Aaliya also presents her work neatly.

 

Azrah actively joins in class discussions and shares her ideas. She worked well in guided reading sharing her thoughts and giving evidence from the text to support her answers.

6 Italy

Ketikkumar for confidently answering retrieval and inference type questions in guided reading. Ketik has grown in so much confidence over the past few weeks and it’s lovely to see this.

 

Abdul has become very diligent over the last few weeks. He has persevered and remained focused at all times.

 

6 Australia

Neel has been very quiet through most our time doing online learning but this doesn't mean he hasn't been engaged as he has been showing me his thoughts and ideas in the lesson chats. This week I was very impressed in Guided Reading when he put together the pieces of the jigsaw: using the vocabulary, using his background knowledge and linking the title to what was happening in the story to give some excellent inference answers.

 

Mahek has, week on week, been producing some excellent pieces of writing that show her to be working at age expected despite not having a teacher in the room to be able to pick up on errors or direct her good ideas (her feedback coming through online comments). This shows me how hard she has worked and how much she is actually listening while online, meaning that when in class there will be even more improvement.

Hajaar for writing really good informative sentences about the Chinese new year. Super word choices

 

Labid for working hard, writing about Chinese new year and for maths solving word problems.

I Japan

Haroon for always trying his best, participating in all lessons and showing great perseverance when learning about multiplication in maths.

 

Saisha for being a kind and positive role model in class, and writing lovely descriptive sentences about Chinese New Year in our literacy lessons.

2 Spain

Ahmed for working hard to come up with ideas in literacy for what Trevor the T-Rex might do next. Also, really improving on staying focused in lessons.

 

Hafsah for working hard on solving fractions of amounts in maths. Hafsah has been practicing her methods and is now able to do them confidently and accurately. She is also good at sensibly asking for support when she needs it.

2 Pakistan

Arshiya - trying really hard this week and working at a good pace. I saw lots of good work in her book.

 

Abdur-Rehman - better focus this week so he needs to keep this up.

3 Kenya

Kareema - Kareem joined our class this week and she has settled in well. The children were all very welcoming and she has made many friends already. Kareema is confident, well-spoken, polite and she shows great respect to everyone.

 

Hannah - Great perseverance and an increased confidence in Maths. Hannah has made great improvements in Maths with Mum's support. Well done!

Heem – This is his first time learning online, he has picked up all the skills really quickly and participates with enthusiasm to all the lessons. He is always punctual too.

 

Vency – Who has pit in all her effort outside of lessons too, so that she can catch up with the rest of the class after her holiday to India, it is good to have Vency back.

Maariyah - Maariyah has been actively participating in the lessons this week and has shared some fantastic vocabulary and ideas for literacy.

 

Pranav - Pranav has built his confidence over the week and is beginning to share more ideas. He is also more confident to ask for help when unsure.

Tapasya -Wrote a fantastic character description totally independently. Tapasya really thought about her language choices and sentence structures. A huge well done!

 

Liza – Showing lots of perseverance. Liza has worked hard all term and has not given up once! She tries her best in all subject areas and is not afraid to ask for help or to share her learning. A massive well done!

Faisal - For some outstanding contributions in maths. We have been learning about the properties of shapes and he has excelled this week even when finding missing angles of a triangle.

 

Kanishka - She has impressed me since the start of lockdown and, in fact, appears to be improving week on week (especially in maths) and may even be ready to aim for greater depth.

Haneen for doing very well in phonics and always ready to learn and making good progress.

 

Isbah (Maths) for working independently and persevering with repeated addition work, and managing to get them all right!

Slok for trying his best in all lessons and showing great perseverance when learning multiplication in Maths.

 

Mohammed Abubacar for his enthusiasm during lessons and writing detailed, descriptive sentences about Chinese New Year in Literacy

2 Spain

Ayaan: for coming up with some fantastic ideas for describing Trevor the Rex and accurately using a wide range of conjunctions. Ayaan has also remained incredibly enthusiastic throughout his lessons.

 

Kavya: for persevering when doing some tricky work involving fractions. She has been able to draw, recognise and write fractions. She has also got much better at interacting with her adult during lessons.

Vanshika - lots of work, super handwriting, she wrote a lovely letter about our book The Dinosaur Police

 

Deep - good work in his book & he has really tried to make his work clear and neat

3 Kenya

Suraiyah - for showing great perseverance in Maths- Suraiyah has managed to tell the time in roman numerals and 1 minute intervals.

 

Owais Imran - for always showing respect- Owais has an amazing personality, as he is always cheerful, punctual and never fails to make us laugh.

3 Poland

Venci - Showing perseverance and taking care when recreating a piece of art in the style of Julian Opie.

 

Mohammad Mulla- Being respectful by always using his manners when asking for help and making excellent contributions to class discussions

4 Canada

Sufiya S - working really hard in Literacy for Mrs Member.

 

Haleema - Having such a good attitude towards her learning. She was feeling unwell one morning but insisted on staying online as she did not want to miss out on her important learning (her words)

Abdullah U - For always making sure that all the children are following the rules online. Also, helping others make the right choices and for always smiling which is lovely.

 

Husna Julebi - for being supportive within a group and offering advice on how others can improve their work.

M. Rizwaan  - has shown self-motivation and maturity throughout this lockdown and taken responsibility for his own learning. Well done.

Siham - Sharing ideas confidently in literacy. Siham used adventurous vocabulary and worked well on her expanded noun phrases, which was part of our success criteria. Also, Siham actively participated in guided reading and this week showed a good understanding of the text.

 

Aayan - Aayan has recently returned from India. He has worked well in all subjects and has quickly caught up with the learning. Aayan has shared some fantastic ideas in literacy this week and actively participated in all class discussions.

6 Italy

Mariam - For writing a great non-chronological report on Prince William as well as improving her computing skills by completing it on a word document. Mariam is growing in confidence week by week and I’m really impressed with her attitude to learning.

 

Shelan - Shelan has grown in confidence and is communicating more effectively in all online lessons. She is producing some great work and I’m really pleased with all her efforts. Well done!

Muhammad Bh - For some outstanding contributions in all areas this week but especially in guided reading. From a small extract and a text introduction he had the measure of Greg without having read any Diary of a Wimpy Kid. As well as that, he has helped to keep my moral up with his sense of humour while remote learning which we all know can be difficult for everybody involved.

 

Urwah - Another child who has made some outstanding contributions this week, especially in CCC during our debate on whether Richard III was the evil man that Shakespeare and history have made him out to be. Also, for the effort he has put into his independent work for his science project.

Shafeeqah Tailor - Shafeeqah has shown a lot of perseverance in our Fractions unit - she found the concept of improper fractions difficult however she kept trying and is now more confident solving the questions. She isn't hesitant in asking for help.

Darsh Haresh - Darsh has shown that he is committed to learn. He takes an active role in class discussions and always participates in a positive and appropriate manner. He is very polite and is always using his manners.

6 Italy

Nabila Amirruddin for communicating effectively. Nabila was able to give great answers in our guided reading session; really thinking about how find evidence in the text to support her answers. Fantastic effort!

Abdullah Gheewala for increasing levels of perseverance. Abdullah is always cheery on all calls, tries his very best and always asks for help and clarification when unsure. Keep up this great attitude!

Fahima Faizal, who has consistently attempted to answer questions in all areas of the curriculum this week even when she has been unsure she has given it a good go especially in literacy and reading.

Rowayda Hussen - Who has been consistently on the ball in literacy, providing the class with some excellent answers and insights during the lessons.

Yahya for super comprehension work and reading sight words

Maryam Musa for writing brilliant, descriptive sentences in Literacy with lots of imaginative adjectives.

Eesa Sarang for always trying his best, working hard at home and participating in all sessions.

2 Spain

Rahma: Working really hard with her design and descriptions of pizza and always having lots of interesting ideas to share with other children in the group. Also, being enthusiastic in every session.

Muhammad Amirudin: Working hard to use methods accurately when solving problems involving money. Also, being sensible and focused in every session and writing down all of his answers.

2 Pakistan

Imaani Khalifa - good work in reading and literacy...reading her sentences out loud to check they make sense & generally joining in really well.

Anisa Ali (group 1 and Turquoise reader) - worked really well on the money investigation and had a really good try at the challenge.

Priyanshi did well in guided reading. Good answers and explanation from her. Very alert and we have seen an increased confidence in her overall learning.

Mohamed Dolaal: He's great in maths and always completes his tasks to a high standard. Mohamed Dolaal certainly keeps me on my toes as he always has to be challenged. I've also seen a great improvement in his reasoning skills.

Hawwaa Abdullah for sharing her background knowledge and making excellent predictions in Science.

Arushi Hareshkumar for showing perseverance when learning to tell the time and supporting others in the class with Microsoft Teams.

4 Canada

Adaeze for amazing art work she showed us of a Minotaur (our current literacy topic on Greek myths). She google searched it and drew it freehand so it was very impressive.

Mitiksha for trying really hard during Maths as we have been looking at fractions word problems.

Navya Tandel for persevering through all the technical issues as she tried her best to get onto TEAMS and using all avenues to get access to her learning.

Mu'Awiyah Vohra for having excellent manners and being considerate towards the needs of others whilst learning online .

Ifeoluwapo Sobowale who has persevered with her online learning despite being in lockdown and not being at home. She is always one of the first to hand in her completed work.
